The Gran Premio Moto GP de la Comunitat Valenciana 2023, held on 26 November at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Cheste, was an exciting event that saw Aleix Espargaró crowned MotoGP World Champion. However, there were other riders who also stood out in the race, both for their performances on and off the track.
Aleix Espargaró, as mentioned above, was the star of the weekend. The Spanish Aprilia rider took his first world championship win, as well as becoming the first Spanish rider to win the MotoGP title in 30 years. Espargaró rode a masterful race, leading from the first lap and resisting attacks from his rivals until the chequered flag.
Fabio Quartararo, the defending champion, was also one of the standout riders in Valencia. The French Yamaha rider fell just short of victory, but his second place finish kept him second in the overall championship standings. Quartararo rode a good race, but was unable to overtake Espargaró on the final lap.
Pramac Ducati's Spanish rider Jorge Martín completed the podium in Valencia. Martín made a spectacular comeback from fifteenth position to third. The Spanish rider showed his talent and his ability to overcome, and he has established himself as one of the candidates for the title in 2024.
Other riders who stood out in Valencia were:
- Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati), who took pole position and led the race for several laps, before crashing and finishing outside the points.
- Joan Mir (Suzuki), who finished fourth and remained in fifth position in the overall championship standings.
- Brad Binder (KTM), who finished fifth and was one of the most consistent riders of the season.
- Álex Márquez (Honda), who finished sixth and achieved his best result of the season.
All in all, the Gran Premio Moto GP de la Comunitat Valenciana 2023 was a memorable event that left a good taste in the mouths of motorcycling fans. In addition to the exciting MotoGP race, the weekend was also marked by the Moto2 and Moto3 categories, which also offered exciting races.
