Step-by-step guide to changing brake pads on an electric scooter
Now that you have all the tools and equipment you need, let's get started on changing your scooter's brake pads. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Remove the brake caliper.
Use the Allen key to remove the screws that hold the brake caliper in place. Once the bolts are removed, gently separate the caliper from the disc or wheel.
Step 2: Remove the old brake pads
Use the screwdriver to remove the screws holding the old brake pads in place. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the brake pads out of the caliper.
Step 3: Clean the Brake Rotor or Wheel
Pour brake cleaner over the rotor or wheel and wipe it off with a cloth. This will remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the surface.
Step 4: Fit new brake pads
Insert the new brake pads into the caliper, making sure they are correctly aligned. Use the bolts to secure the brake pads.
Step 5: Remount the brake caliper
Gently slide the brake caliper back onto the rotor or wheel and secure it with the screws.
Step 6: Test the brakes
Before you take your scooter for a ride, test the brakes to make sure they work properly. Apply the brakes gently at first and gradually increase the pressure to test the braking power.
